How AmneziaWG differs from WireGuard
AmneziaWG keeps the familiar WireGuard model while changing packet characteristics with extra parameters. Client and server values must match. An AmneziaWG 1.x configuration does not become 2.0 when its label changes: migration requires a compatible application and a new guest configuration produced by the server.
When to compare it with VLESS Reality
Run comparisons on the same device, network, and reasonably similar server routes. AmneziaWG provides a full-tunnel model, while VLESS Reality is supported by many Xray- and sing-box-based clients. The practical choice depends on device support, current network behavior, available servers, and routing requirements rather than a universal protocol ranking.
Connection checks
Use an application that explicitly supports AmneziaWG 2.0 and import the full profile. Record the client version, platform, network type, and failure point when troubleshooting. Never publish the private key or complete configuration. Compare another network and update the client before sharing redacted diagnostics with support.
Choose the right guide
Open the AmneziaWG setup guide for a first connection. Use AmneziaWG vs VLESS Reality when choosing between a full-device tunnel and an Xray-compatible profile. In this section, Amnezia VPN protocol refers to AmneziaWG 2.0; the client version and configuration format still have to be checked independently.
