VLESS and REALITY are different layers
VLESS is a lightweight protocol between an Xray client and server. REALITY belongs to transport security and the handshake presentation. A working profile also depends on its transport, flow, address, port, user identifier, public key, and compatible client version. A client that lists VLESS support may still lack the exact REALITY features required by a profile.
How to assess a configuration
Verify the source of the key, the supported client, and whether the complete profile was imported. Do not edit the UUID, SNI, short ID, or public key without instructions from the administrator. Applications outside the browser may require system or TUN routing. On mobile devices, battery restrictions and background permissions can interrupt an otherwise valid setup.
Why results vary between networks
Provider routing, DNS, IPv4 or IPv6 behavior, packet loss, current filtering, and the server route all affect a connection. A useful check compares mobile and home networks, confirms device time, updates the client, and captures a redacted log. A configuration may be stable in one region and need a different route elsewhere, so observations should always carry a date and context.
A practical reading order
Begin with the what is VLESS explainer, then use the VLESS setup article for the target platform. Import a VLESS key without changing its UUID, SNI, short ID, or public key unless the server operator provides a matching configuration update.
